LumiWed vs The Knot
The Knot is the default US wedding hub: website, registry, vendors, checklists, budget. LumiWed is narrower — one wedding site every guest can read in their own language, with no guest account and a gift list built in. If your guest list is English-only and American, The Knot is the better default. If families do not share a language, it is not.

Where we differ
Both platforms give you a wedding website and RSVPs. The split shows up the moment a guest does not speak English, or lives outside the US.
The Knot documents a single-language site: you can retype copy into another language, but the site cannot serve two at once, and RSVP text stays in English. LumiWed publishes one wedding in every language you activate — edit once, every language follows.
Each LumiWed guest gets a personal link that opens in their language, already knowing who they are. The Knot’s guest path is a shared website plus accounts and apps around the planning suite. For grandparents abroad, the link is the whole product.
The Knot wins vendor search, budgeting, week-by-week checklists, and a registry that sells gifts from its own store. We do not have those, and we will not pretend. We do the site, the guest list, the RSVPs, and a gift list: guests reserve gifts or find your bank details and payment links, and on Premium they can give to a fund by card.
The Knot’s own help center documents that guests in other countries may be unable to view a site. LumiWed’s guest sites run on a global edge network and are built for mixed-country lists.

Premium is €59 once, with a 14-day refund and no subscription. Sites auto-expire after the wedding. We do not invent reviews we do not have.
Not as two live languages at once. The Knot lets you retype the site into another language; RSVP text stays in English. LumiWed serves each guest their language from one wedding. (Verified August 2026 against The Knot’s public help center.)
If guests are flying in and do not share a language, pick a site that publishes travel and schedule in each guest’s language. The Knot and WeddingWire remain the usual US-domestic recommendation.
Yes — a gift list built in, free on every plan. Guests reserve gifts with their personal link so nothing is given twice, and you can add bank details with a scan-to-pay QR code, payment links such as PayPal, and wishlists you keep elsewhere. On Premium, guests can also give to a fund by card: they pay exactly what they choose, and Stripe’s fees plus a 1% LumiWed fee come from your side. What we do not have is a gift shop: The Knot and Zola sell gifts from their own store, and we do not.

What it costs

Premium is €59 one-time: 1000 guests, every language, every theme, a photo gallery, your own subdomain, card gifts into a fund, and your own colours, fonts and monogram. The Knot’s website is free; you pay for extras such as a custom domain and cash-fund fees — check their pricing pages for today’s numbers. On LumiWed card gifts, guests pay exactly the amount they choose; Stripe’s card fees and a 1% LumiWed fee come out of the couple’s side. (The Knot features verified August 2026.)
